Service terms

Service terms

These are the operating terms for an approved From The Scope engagement. The accepted quote controls the actual scope, price, schedule and acceptance check. This page is not legal advice or a certification.

Agree the work first

An engagement identifies the client, service, pages or authorized domain, deliverables, exclusions, price, dependencies, acceptance checks and agreed schedule in writing. A displayed starting price or an intake request does not approve work.

Work begins only after both sides approve the scope and applicable terms. You must have authority over the site or domain and permission to supply any assets or access.

Deposits, balances and changes

Website projects use a 50% initial payment and 50% balance before launch or handover, based on the accepted quote. Both payments are parts of the total, not a security deposit. For a $300 (Approved pricing) Starter quote, the stages are $150 (Approved pricing) and $150 (Approved pricing). Business projects generally use the same 50/50 structure.

Starter includes one consolidated revision round; Business includes two. New pages, features, a different design direction or extra rounds require a written change proposal describing the cost and schedule impact.

Applicable taxes, domain renewals, paid hosting and third-party service charges are disclosed separately where they apply.

Cancellation and refunds

Send a cancellation request to support@fromthescope.com. FTS will confirm the request and calculate any refund under the stage reached and work actually completed.

Before work begins, the initial payment is refunded less actual unrecovered provider processing fees, where legally permitted. After work begins, the unused payment is refunded less documented completed work, pre-approved nonrecoverable expenses and actual unrecovered provider processing fees, where legally permitted.

Any deductions are itemized. FTS does not deduct a processing fee for a duplicate or incorrect charge, or for an FTS-caused failure to deliver. If FTS cannot deliver the agreed work, undelivered work is refunded without a processing-fee deduction.

Content, review and delivery

You supply accurate business details and copy, photos and other material you have rights to use. Content creation, licensing purchases and third-party account setup are included only if the written scope says so.

Delivery depends on content, approvals, access and external services. The quote states the expected schedule and acceptance check; delays or new requirements should lead to a written revised plan. Rankings, sales, spam prevention and uninterrupted third-party service are not promised.

Ownership and third-party rights

You retain your domain and registrar account. Handover transfers the paid-for site files and assets FTS has the right to transfer. Third-party libraries, fonts, photos, software and services remain subject to their own licenses and provider terms.

Managed hosting in FTS’s account means FTS operates the project; it does not transfer ownership of your domain or paid-for files. Provider account credentials and other clients’ data are not part of an export.

Optional Care, cancellation and handover

Hosting & Care is a separate, explicitly opted-in monthly agreement for eligible sites at $49 (Approved pricing)/month. Billing starts at launch or an accepted migration. It includes one content request up to 20 minutes per month, with no rollover; features, security repairs and emergency work sit outside it.

Care cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. A failed payment receives notice and a 14-day grace period before suspension is considered. When service ends, the transferable site files and configuration remain available for a 30-day export window. A single failed payment does not immediately disable or delete the site.

Extra migration help gets its own approved scope. Domain ownership, renewal responsibility and paid-for site files remain with the client.

Access and security-service limits

Use scoped provider invitations and least-privilege roles. Do not send passwords, card details or one-time codes by email or in a project form. DNS changes require authorization and preservation of existing email and service records.

External checks require permission and human review. They are not a penetration test, insurance assessment certification or security guarantee. Reports, Fix Packs and recurring Care become payable only when their separate fulfillment and reconciliation workflows are enabled.
